Kings Hill Pre-School

About Us - You & Your Child

Parental Involvement

Image 3

Our primary aim at Kings Hill Pre-School is to provide high quality care and education for children below school age through a close working partnership with the parents and our local community. As a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance all parents have full participatory rights and we depend on their good will and involvement to keep the pre-school going.

The role of the Parents

Your Child's Key Person

We believe that children settle best when they have a key person to relate to, who knows them and their parents well, and who can meet their individual needs. Research shows that a key person approach benefits the child, the parents, the staff and the pre school by providing secure relationships in which children thrive, parents have confidence, staff are committed and the pre school is a happy and dedicated place to attend or work in.

The role of the Key Person

Starting At Our Pre-School

The first days - We want your child to feel happy and safe with us. To make sure that this is the case, the staff will work with you to decide on how to help your child to settle in. The pre-school has a policy about helping children to settle in.

Clothing - We provide protective clothing for the children when they play with messy activities.

We encourage children to gain the skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off - and putting on - outdoor clothes. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them to do this. It is a good idea to put a change of clothing into your child's bag, in case of accidents.

We hope that you and your child enjoy being members of our pre-school and that you both find taking part in our activities interesting and stimulating. The staff are always ready and willing to talk with you about your ideas, views or questions.

Special Needs

As part of the pre-school's policy to make sure that its provision meets the needs of each individual child, we take account of any special needs a child may have.

The setting works to the requirements of the 1993 Education Act and The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2000).

Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Raye Mew.
